Can I Sit in a Massage Chair While Pregnant

The pregnancy cycle is a very important part of a woman's life. A pregnant woman should strictly follow specific guidelines as prescribed by the doctor to keep her and the baby safe.

During pregnancy, she is advised to avoid alcohol, smoking, eat healthy and nutritious foods and create a very healthy environment for the baby. This has left some women wondering if it is advisable to use a massage chair during pregnancy. While some see it as a luxury to engage in on different occasion, others see massage as one of the most beneficial pregnancy health activity.

There are a lot of misconceptions about using a massage chair during pregnancy. Some massage chair manufacturers advice women not to use massage chairs during pregnancy due to concerns that pressure points stimulation could cause premature labor. This is not yet scientifically proven. Some doctors are hesitant to advise massage during pregnancy due to a huge variation in training as well as lack of nationwide certification standards.

Some other medical expert advice massage but only after the first trimester of the pregnancy. They believe it could cause a miscarriage. This is also not proven scientifically, the only view held about it is that most miscarriages occur in the first trimester of the pregnancy. They, therefore, advise that massage shouldn't be done in the first trimester to avoid any form of liability issue linked to the massage.

All these concerns have posed a big question about massage and pregnancy. The question then is; are you allowed to use a massage chair during pregnancy? Yes

Pregnant women are advised to go for light walks or engage in gentle exercises. The soothing vibrations from a massage chair have a lesser impact on the fetus in comparison to walking or exercises. This makes the massage chair a very healthy way to exercise especially when there are symptoms of stress or pain.

The fetus is wrapped in a thick wall of fluids and flesh. This, therefore, makes little or no difference when sitting on a massage chair or when having regular exercises. It is important to have your body relaxed. That way you are certain to have a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Pregnant women are known to have mood swings and get easily irritated. This is because they feel a lot of inconvenience during pregnancy. A massage chair will reduce headaches, lower back pain, neck pains and many other fatigue issues related to pregnancy. This will help alleviate the inconveniences she may be feeling and put her in a better state of mind to and keep her healthy.

Using a massage chair during pregnancy is highly beneficial. A massage chair that uses patting, rolling, pressing sweeping and rotating movements will definitely do a lot of good to a pregnant woman.

You may also want to think of this from this perspective. What better way for you and your baby to relax than a soothing massage while listening to good music or watching a movie. It would put you in a better state of mind and set you on track for safe and healthy delivery.

An ideal massage should last for an hour and you should make sure you are comfortable on your massage chair. This will help you improve the levels of your feel-good hormones serotonin and dopamine. It will also help you reduce your level of cortisol which is a major indicator of stress. A large percent of pregnancy miscarriages are caused by stress and if a massage chair would help you reduce stress then you shouldn't have any doubts about using it.

One of the greatest benefits of using a massage chair is it helps you sleep. One major problem pregnant women face is lack of sleep. This is very unhealthy for both the mother and the baby and it could lead to complications.  Using a massage chair will help you promote the physiological response to relaxation which will result in sound sleep.

In conclusion, massage chairs are very important to your health during pregnancy. However, if you still have your doubts about using one, or should you feel some inconveniences from using it, you can contact your doctor for advice. Also when buying a massage chair, make sure to pick a chair that can be adjusted to suit the different position you feel relaxed in. you should also look out for a massage chair with an intensity adjustment so it doesn't become too harsh or have little or no effect on you.
